Miss Australia: Miss Universe bets knew PHL’s Pia Wurtzbach won before correction
The 77 candidates in the 2015 Miss Universe pageant already knew Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was the pageant’s real winner before she was crowned following an announcement gaffe by host Steve Harvey, Miss Australia Monika Radulovic revealed.
Radulovic, who placed fourth in the pageant, told the Australian morning show Sunrise that she and the 76 other bets who were on the stage were shocked when Harvey announced the name of Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as Miss Universe because the word “Philippines” was flashed on the teleprompter as the winner.
“I still really can’t believe it happened. The girls, the rest of us—the 77 contestants— were on the side of the stage and we actually saw the teleprompter. It said ‘Philippines, please take your first walk as Miss Universe’ after Colombia was crowned. So we were looking at each other thinking, ‘What are we waiting?’” she said.
“And then Steve Harvey made the walk down the runway and we could all see the worried look on his face when it happened. It was horrible,” she said.
With a regretful look on his face, Harvey took the stage to apologize for the mix up in the announcement of the pageant winner. He then announced Wurtzbach as the Miss Universe 2015 while Gutierrez is the first runner up.
The comedian even flashed the cue card on screen to prove that Miss Philippines was the pageant’s real winner.

‘Go!’ Miss Bulgaria cheers on Pia Wurtzbach
As Wurtzbach was standing on the stage looking shocked at the news that she had actually won, Miss Bulgaria Radostina Todorova could be seen cheering enthusiastically in the background.
When Wurtzbach turns to where Todorova is standing, still seemingly unsure what to do, Todorova sweeps her arms forward and is seen to mouth "Go!" with a big smile on her face. Wurtzbach sees the gesture and it spurs her to continue walking forward to accept the crown she had won.

Filipino netizens noticed. "Even if we already know what to do, we always look for that one friend who will push us to do it. We all need a #MissBulgaria in our lives," said Facebook user Ron Cruz, who posted screengrabs of the moment.

TMZ source claims Latin American candidates blame Pia for snafu
Gossip site TMZ on Tuesday quoted an unnamed source who claims that at least some of the Latin American candidates at the Miss Universe pageant were blaming Philippines bet Pia Wurtzbach for the announcement mix-up that occurred on coronation night.
Host Steve Harvey had proclaimed Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez the winner, when in fact it was Wurtzbach who had won. Harvey interrupted Gutierrez' victory walk, apologized and announced the correct result. The crown and sash were removed from Gutierrez and given to Wurtzbach.
In an inflammatorily-titled article, TMZ claims that the Latina contestants "were squarely and tearfully" blaming Wurtzbach for the gaffe instead of Harvey.
However, it added, "no one could coherently explain why the snafu was [Wurtzbach's] fault."
The article went on to claim that some of the Latin American contestants were "grousing" about the win backstage and snubbing Wurtzbach

Miss Universe judge Nash sympathizes with Pia Wurtzbach
Actress Niecy Nash, one of the judges of the recently concluded Miss Universe 2015, has expressed her support for Filipina beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach after the controversial conclusion to the pageant.
During Monday's coronation night held in Las Vegas, American host Steve Harvey misread his cue card and announced that Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, had won the title instead of Wurtzbach.
Nash also shared on her Instagram account that the judges --blogger Perez Hilton, former Miss USA Olivia Culpo and former NFL pro Emmitt Smith-- unanimously voted for Wurtzbach.
"Across the board she had our votes," she wrote as a caption to a photo of a newly crowned Wurtzbach with the judges.
Meanwhile, in his latest podcast, fellow judge Perez reiterated that Wurtzbach "won fair and square."
"I went with my gut and voted for Miss Philippines… Actually, I found out afterwards, it was unanimous – everyone, every single judge in that panel, all four of us – voted for Miss Philippines to be number one," he added.
